Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. This snow-capped mountain is perfectly formed and spectacular to behold. its fame spreads far and wide, attracting climbers and nature lovers alike.

The mountain can be climbedthroughseveral routes: Machame, Marangu, Lemosho, Londorosi, Rongai and Umbwe.

History of Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is located in the Northern part of Tanzania. It achieved UNESCO world heritage status in 1987. It contains three peaks: Kibo (5,895m), Mawenzi (5,149m), and Shira peaks wasthe first to erupt 800,000 years ago, followed by Mawenzi 500,000 years ago and Kibo only Kilimanjro Climate

The region’s climate is influenced by the prevailing trade winds. Kiimanjaro has two rainy season each year. The wet season from March to May causes rain around the mountain’s base and the accumulation of snow on its peaks. The dry season run from June to September, during which the day time is mainly clear and sunny, with extremely cold temperatures overnight. The best time to hike is from June to October and from January to February.

The best time to hike mainly from Jun to October and January to February.

Kilimanjaro Accessibility

Moshi is the capital town of Kilimanjaro region can be accessed by road or flight Via Kilimanjaro International Airport about 56km to the west.From Moshi we take the  road  eastwards for about 28km to small town called Himo,  followed by a 17km stretch ascending the mountain slope to Marangu where the park headquarters and main entrance are located.  The other five entrance gate are Rongai, Machame, Londorosi, Lemosho and Umbwe are Located around the mountain base and can be reached by road.
